                           Inspirations From Childhood

I am Queen of the Summer Doll House

This Nefertiti sculpture was created from the memories I had when I was about 7 or 8 years old. I was given a beautiful 3-story dollhouse, which I broke one hot summer day. I always regretted this action. In this work I have reinvented this lost childhood dollhouse. This work also reflects my dream home full of cozy colours and charming animals that roam around! You will see Nefertiti nobly sitting on top of her house sporting a bold turtle shaped hat or rather should I say a turtle helmet.

Over the years, I have been using toys and other appropriate found objects in my work. “The Animal Ark series” which was inspired from my early memories of playing with toy animals.

This work also reflects the fact that I never played with dolls, but miniature plastic animals on the green-grass carpet of my room. I also played with stuffed animals and dreamed of having a dog and cat. I have synthesized these feelings- fond memories of playing with toy animals. The dog and cat I always wanted can be found in this work as well.
